Our ICAM Lead Investigator Course is specifically designed for mining and high-risk industry professionals to meet the requirements of the WHS Regulations and become industry-leading incident investigators, featuring the nationally recognised unit of competency BSBWHS515 Lead initial response to and investigate WHS incidents.
Course Overview
About this Unit
The ICAM Lead Investigator Course is a two-day, hands-on program built for professionals who are intedning to lead workplace incident investigations.
Participants work through the full investigation cycle, from initial evidence gathering and witness interviews to the five Ws, contributing factor analysis, and systemic causation, giving them a structured approach they can apply immediately on the job.
Upon completion satisfactory completion, students will attain the nationally recognised unit of competency – BSBWHS515 Lead initial response to and investigate WHS incidents. from the BSB51319 Diploma of Work Health and Safety
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to lead the initial response to work health and safety (WHS) incidents. The unit also includes planning, conducting and reporting on investigations of WHS incidents that have resulted in, or have the potential to result in, injury or damage. This may include accessing specialist expertise.
The unit applies to those who work in a range of WHS roles across all industries, and apply a substantial knowledge base and well-developed skills in a wide variety of WHS contexts. It does not apply to those undertaking an investigation in order to provide legal advice or prepare for legal proceedings.
Leading an investigation well means more than knowing the methodology. It means knowing how to manage a scene, direct a team, ask the right questions, and build findings that hold up under scrutiny. That is what this course delivers.
Delivered by investigators with over 20 years of real-world experience, the program is grounded in practice, not theory.
